Chengeta Safari Lodge lies in the midst of a 13,000-acre private game reserve, near the small town of Selous. It is approximately 1.5 hour’s drive from Harare and Harare International Airport, which means access is a quick road transfer from the capital city, on tarred roads, with the last few kilometers once you enter the boundary fence on well maintained dirt roads. The lodge is built incorporating the natural indigenous trees into and around the buildings, with beautiful manicured lawns flowing throughout the lodge grounds. This encourages a wide variety of bird life, with many species spotted from the comfort of the main entertainment area, which overlooks a multi-level swimming pool. All the buildings are thatched, keeping them nice and cool during the summer months and insulated in winter. The dining area and bar are adjacent to one another, with a wonderful fireplace built into the TV Trophy room for those wanting to stay indoors and cuddle up with a nice warm drink. There is also a curio shop near reception for guests convenience, selling local souvenirs.
There are 17 rooms in total, comprising of:
- 1 x Family room
- 16 x Standard double/twin rooms
All the rooms have ceiling fans, mosquito nets, mini bars, lock box and complimentary tea and coffee facilities.
Chengeta Lodge is linked to the national grid, so that appliances like hair dryers and electric shavers may be used, so long as there isn’t a power cut. If the power does go out, there is a back-up generator able to supply the lodge. The hot water is heated by a wood burning Rhodesian Boiler. Cell phone signal is good, and there is Wi-Fi available throughout the premises.

- Canoeing; (you will be transferred to Pamuzinda for this activity)
- Game drives;
- Game walks;
- Chengeta school tour.
