Royal Zambezi Lodge is located on the banks of the Zambezi River, with its own concession of river frontage, directly across the river from Zimbabwe’s Mana Pools National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The lodge has a two-hundred-hectare domain, located within the Chiawa Game Management Area, and has three and a half kilometres of unspoiled river frontage. Royal Zambezi is a quick 30 minutes charter flight from Lusaka, using Royal Air Charters, which is the lodge’s partner company. Flights arrive in to the Royal Airstrip, the lodge’s own private, tarred runway which is just a 5–10-minute drive from the Royal Zambezi. For those wanting to boat in, transfers can be organised from Chirundu, and this boat transfer takes around one and half hours (weather dependent).
Royal Zambezi Lodge is a luxury lodge that was “designed by a family with in-depth knowledge and love of Africa, its heritage and its wildlife.” It is set in one of the most majestic areas with what the locals call the “blue mountains” of the Zambezi Valley Escarpment as the back drop. The lodge offers the perfect combination of contemporary, simplistic style and extreme comfort, while providing a pure wilderness experience.
There are 3 different types of rooms available being Family suites, Deluxe Suites or Presidential Suites. There are 15 rooms in total: 8 Deluxe Suites and 7 Presidential Suites. Deluxe 6 and 7 are the Family Suites, so they’re part of the 8, not extra.
Family Suites x 2 (deluxe Suites 6 & 7)
The Family suites consists of two Deluxe suites (6 & 7) which offer a shared seating area between the rooms for the whole family to enjoy. The two suites are strategically placed closest to the main area to provide peace of mind to parents with younger children who might prefer a shorter (escorted) walk between their suite and the central area. The separate suites are enclosed and safe enough for children to enjoy their own suite, with parents staying in the suite next door. The lodge has a special programme aimed at those travelling with families called The Royal Rangers Programme, including Tots and Trails, where children of all ages start building their own relationship with nature through discovery, questions and play.
