Big 5 lodge is a large, newly completed lodge located on Mica Point near the Kariba Dam Wall in a prime position overlooking Lake Kariba. The lodge is situated on a sizeable property that is fully walled for privacy and security. There is a lovely swimming pool and outside bar and entertainment area with changing room and toilets for guests enjoyment.
The lodge is made up of 3 separate accommodation options:
• Main Lodge
• Cottage
• Main House
Main Lodge (offered on a fully catered or self-catering basis)
The Main Lodge is made up of a spacious open-plan lounge and bar area, kitchen and 5 x en-suite bedrooms. The lounge has 2 seating areas, with a large flat screen TV with satellite television. The bar area has a gorgeous wooden bar counter and 2 bar fridges and freezers that are fully stocked with drinks and snacks for sale. For guests convenience there are also guest toilets adjacent to the bar area. There is a fully functioning kitchen which has a 6 plate gas and electric stove, fridge freezers, chest freezers, microwave, bread machines, sandwich maker, toaster, urn, air fryer and kettle. For those who chose the catered option, the chef will offer you an a la carte menu (please ensure you share any dietary requirements ahead of time.) Guests wishing to self-cater will have access to the chef who can prepare your meals at no additional charge, but a tip would be greatly appreciated. To keep the main entertainment area cool an evaporative coolant system has been installed. The verandah leading off the lounge and bar area has comfortable seating and a dining area. This is usually the most popular spot of guests due to the magnificent views of the lake from here.

• Ceiling to floor mosquito nets that fall away from the beds;
• King-size beds in rooms 1-3 and a double bed in room 4;
• Room 5 is a family room and has a bunk bed as well as 2 x double beds;

Water is provided by the municipality, so guests are encouraged to bring their own drinking water. The lodge is on the main power grid, but there is a 6.5KVA back up generator for emergencies. There are solar geysers for hot water, with a back-up electric system for rainy days.
Big 5 is a serviced lodge so no need to bring cleaning materials or toilet paper. A maid will service and clean the lodge each morning. Check-in time is 2p.m, and check out time is 10a.m (unless otherwise organised).
Big 5 Lodge is an appealing lodge for groups and families alike. The staff are considerate, honest and hard working, the lodge is extremely comfortable and has all the amenities you can think of, with spectacular lake views to top it all off. What more could you want for a holiday destination?
