Cutty Sark Lodge is located on a beautiful point overlooking Lake Kariba. The old hotel has recently been refurbished, and whereby the old Cutty Sark Hotel used to be sold on a bed & breakfast basis – this has now changed, with the accommodation being being sold on either a self-catering or bed only basis.
Cutty Sark Lodge has an on-site restaurant called The Galley Bistro, that overlooks the swimming pool and lake. For those not wanting the hassle of bringing up all their groceries to self-cater there is also the Crispy Fresh Shop located near the restaurant. For guests convenience you are able to pre-order your groceries which will be delivered to your suites. Rats Bar is adjacent to the main hotel and is opened upon request.
There are 4 different accommodation blocks available. The Moody Block (sleeps 18 altogether), The Moore Block (sleeps 8), The Wallace Block (sleeps 6) and the Willis block (sleeps 20). Below is a description of each of the blocks.
Moodie Block
The new “Moodie Block” has 4 self-catering suites on a double storey level, 2 on the upper and 2 on the lower level. The suites are made up of 2 en-suite bedrooms that have either a double bed or two x 3/4 beds. The rooms each have air-conditioning and a floor to ceiling mosquito net that it located at the front of the room. The en-suite bathrooms have a basin, toilet and wet-room style shower. The central section of the suites has a large open-plan kitchen and lounge area. Dining is done socially at the breakfast bar. Suites sleep 4 pax.
Moore Block
The Moore Block has been converted in to 4 en-suite bedrooms, with its own private kitchen, bar and living area. The en-suite bathrooms each have a shower, toilet and basin. The views from the Moore Block are simply stunning. The flat sleeps eight people and is fully air-conditioned, but the large sliding doors allow guests to take full advantage of the regular cool breeze that blows in from the lake.
Wallace Block
The Wallace Block which consists of 3 flats, that accommodates couples in an open plan self-catering unit. All are en-suite and fully air-conditioned. The large flats have private balconies that look towards the east. The sun rises here are worth waking up for and the small forest of trees gives good shade during the day whilst providing a haven for bird life.
