Just a stone’s throw away from Khulu Bush Camp and Ivory Lodge, is the luxury private villa, aptly named Khulu’s Retreat. Although, it over looks the same waterhole as Khulu Bush Camp, Khulu’s Retreat has been very cleverly built into the bush so that it offers the guests complete privacy and a feeling of being immersed in nature. The villa is located on the same private concession, a few kilometres off the main Bulawayo to Victoria Falls road. Although not actually in the Hwange National Park, Khulu has special permission to enter the park through a private entrance, which comes out right by the famous Makwa Pan – cutting out 2 hours of drive time other guests entering Hwange Main Camp would need to travel. Khulu is located 173kms from Victoria Falls or 263kms from Bulawayo. There are scheduled flights arriving daily into both Victoria Falls and Bulawayo and transfers can be arranged. Charter flights are also available to Hwange Airfield. If self-driving, a high clearance 4×4 is recommended as the last few kilometres are on sandy dirt roads.
There are 3 luxury en-suite bedrooms, accommodating a maximum of 6 guests. Each bedroom has huge windows, offering stunning views of the pan in front of the villa. Two of the rooms are located with the lounge area in between, while the third room has just been added, is accessed over a small platform walkway. All the bedroom are en-suite, with his and hers basins with a toilet separated by a partition. Bedroom one has a deluxe shower, while bedroom two is fitted with a claw foot bath, with the newest bedroom three having both an indoor AND outdoor shower. The rooms all have king size beds, with walk around mosquito nets. In winter months hot water bottles are provided, while in summer there are free standing fans. Each room comes with cotton robes and a selection of toiletries.
