Nyamoumba River Camp is located in a very unique spot along the banks of the mighty Zambezi River, only 27km below the Kariba Dam Wall and on the pinnacle of the Kariba Gorge merging with the main river. Nyamoumba is situated adjacent to the Hurungwe Safari Area on a private concession. Access is either by 4×4 self-drive vehicles, or a charter plane into the RIFA airstrip.
Nyamoumba has a gorgeous view of the Zambezi River, with easy access to the river for those wanting to fish. There are 3 different accommodation options available to choose from, being the main Nyamoumba Camp, Little Nyamoumba or the Camp Sites. Nyamoumba Camp and Little Nyamoumba each have their own central entertainment areas, with Nyamoumba Camp also having a swimming pool. Below is a more detailed description of each option.
Nyamoumba Camp
4 x twin/double en-suite rooms.
Each guest room has:
- Two twin beds that can be converted to a double bed.
- A private semi-outdoor en-suite bathroom – water heated by solar geysers.
- Mosquito nets.
- Ceiling Fans.
There is a centrally located main entertainment area, which has a lounge, dining room and an extremely well equipped kitchen (fridge, deep freeze, water purification dispenser and gas stove). There is a braai facility and a swimming pool. Solar electricity is available with the back-up of generators.
Little Nyamoumba
3 x twin/double en-suite rooms.
Each guest room has:
- Two twin beds that can be converted to a double bed.
- A private semi-outdoor en-suite bathroom – water heated by solar geysers.
- Mosquito nets.
- Ceiling fans & air-conditioning units (air con is charged at $15.00 per hour and payment can be made on day of departure in camp).
Little Nyamoumba also has an entertainment area, which has a lounge, dining room and kitchen (fridge, deep freeze, water purification dispenser and gas stove). There is a braai facility and outdoor shower. Solar electricity is available as well as a generator to run the air-cons in the rooms.
Camping Grounds
3 x camp sites (max pax of 6 guests per site).
Each camp site has:
- A shaded grass area and concrete slab for setting up tents.
- Ablution facilities (1 per site) with 1 solar heated shower.
- 1 toilet and basin including hot and cold water.
- Braai facilities.
- A power outlet.
Nyamoumba River Camp has many activities on offer, from game walks and drives with a professional guide, to fishing activities on the Zambezi River. (Guided walks and drives need to be booked in advance to ensure a Pro-Guide is available). Self-catering and fully catered options are available, and guests are able to bring their own boats if they so wish.
