Travellers Guest House is a privately owned and run guest house in the heart of the residential area of Bulawayo. Located very conveniently off Cecil Avenue, it is literally only a 5 minute drive to the centre of the city, or half an hour’s drive to the world famous Matopos National Park.
The first thing you notice when dealing with Travellers Guest House is the very friendly and efficient staff. Muzi at the reception, must be given special mention for her kindness and consideration when booking in, you immediately feel that nothing is too much effort for her.
All the rooms have Restapedic beds, allergen-free microfiber pillows and duvets with crisp clean 100% cotton linen. The en-suite bathrooms are spotless, and the Family or Suites come with a bath as well as a shower. Sadly, there is still a big water problem in Bulawayo, so guests are encouraged to use water minimally. Although only the suites and family rooms have DSTV and tea/coffee stations, there is a communal entertainment lounge with full DSTV and a fully-equipped guest kitchen for clients use.
Another communal feature is the crystal-clear swimming pool. What better way to cool off and relax after a long drive or day climbing up to Cecil John Rhodes Grave at the Matopos National Park, than a quick dip in the pool. There is complimentary WiFi, car wash and even a shoe shine if you so desire.
A delicious continental or full English breakfast is available, and served in the light and airy dining room, or in the garden overlooking the pool. The guest house does not offer lunch and dinner, unless by special request for large groups, but as previously mentioned, there is a self-catering kitchen available, and a braai area too. For those wanting a little more pampering there is a restaurant adjoining the guest house that offers an ala carte menu, and makes the most divine wood fired pizzas!
