Lilayi Lodge

Lilayi Lodge is a historic landmark, located on the outskirts of the south of Lusaka in Zambia. It is owned by the Miller family and was originally a cattle farm but the part of the farm that the lodge is situated on was turned into a game reserve in the 1970’s. It became Lilayi Lodge in the early 1990’s and was completely renovated and refurbished in 2013, to the stunning high-end lodge it is today.

Located at the entrance to game farm is the Lilayi Elephant Nursery, (recently brought to the attention of the cinematic world through the film “Holiday in the Wild”, starring Rob Lowe and Kristin Davis). This piece of land was generously donated to Game Rangers International (GRI), a non-profit organisation, who in partnership with  Lilayi Game Farm has become home to a number of orphaned elephants that have seen the loss of their families due to poaching.

Getting to the lodge is an easy road transfer from Lusaka, roughly 25kms from the city centre, mostly on tarred roads, with the final few kms being on a well maintained dirt road. For those wanting to fly in, the closest airstrip is only a 10 minute drive away.

As you arrive at Lilayi Lodge you are welcomed at the reception area, which is adjacent to the car park and overlooks the gorgeous, crystal clear, swimming pool.  The first room you enter is the main entertainment area, which includes the bar and open plan lounge.  Comfortable, deep sofas with beautiful tables and décor make you instantly relax. Leading off the lounge area is the large dining room, which overflows onto the deck and wrap-around verandah at the front of the building.  Both the dining room and deck verandah are tastefully decorated, with a clever walk-in wine cellar in between.

Lilayi is locally known to have one of the best wine lists in Lusaka!  What better setting to enjoy a glass of your favourite wine (with a suitable delicious meal to match) while watching the warthogs graze on the lawn below.

There are 12 rooms in total, ensuring your stay is intimate and the service personal.  These comprise of:

Both the deluxe and family chalets offer:

Lilayi is a common venue for corporate functions, and offers a board room, which can accommodate a maximum of 16 people, which is fully air-conditioned, includes a mounted 51” LED Smart TV, a bar fridge and coffee/tea station.

For those wanting a little more action, than just relaxing by the pool, the lodge offers many activities on site:

Whether you choose to enjoy your cup of coffee from the comfort of your private chalet verandah, or a cocktail by the pool, or even a glass of wine on the patio at sunset, you will most definitely leave Lilayi feeling recharged and refreshed.

To add to your feel good factor, it is nice to know that Lilayi Lodge also most certainly does its bit to support the Wildlife Industry, obviously a cause very important to them.  They contribute towards and support:
