Lokuthula Lodges

Lokuthula Lodges is one of the first places we stayed at when visiting the mighty Victoria Falls many years ago. It has remained one of our top properties.  The reason it stands out for us is because it is situated just a few kilometres from the town itself, is surrounded by thick green grass and natural bush which draws in wild game (such as bushbuck and warthogs), and it is outside of the helicopter fly-zone. Those of you who have been to the Falls will understand why this is important due to the almost constant noise factor.  The bird life is also phenomenal, with many guests finding it hard to leave the peaceful lodge for the hustle and bustle of town.

Lokuthula Lodges are located in the grounds of the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge estate. There is a three-tier swimming pool with paddle pool located on the grounds; as well as a children’s playground and volleyball court.  The Boma Café which is located adjacent to the swimming pool area is open from 07:00 to 16:30 and serves breakfast and light meals.  Wi-Fi is available at The Boma Café and at Lokuthula Lodges Reception area where vouchers may be purchased.

There are 31 lodges in total, which may be booked on a self-catering or bed and breakfast basis. The lodges are split level in design and open fronted, giving guests uninterrupted views of the resident wild life and surrounding bush. There are drop down blinds should you want to use them. The lodges consist of:

  • 22 x 2-bedroom lodges
  • 9 x 3-bedroom lodges

All lodges are non-smoking, have air-conditioning in the bedrooms downstairs, ceiling fans in the lounge and loft, mosquito nets, telephones, international multi-sockets/charging points, a digital            safe, a fully equipped kitchen for guests booking on self-catering basis (with stove, refrigerator, microwave oven, crockery and cutlery for 6/8 guests) and tea/coffee making facilities.

The 2-bedroom lodges (55 m2, 592 ft2) have:

  • 2 bedrooms (1 queen with air conditioning and 1 twin loft);
  • Sleep max 6 people (2 on sofa beds in lounge, recommended for children under 12 years);
  • 1 bathroom with shower over bath; and
  • Lounge, terrace and braai (barbeque) area.
The 3-bedroom lodges (85 m2, 915 ft2) have:
  • 3 bedrooms (1 queen with air conditioning, 1 twin with air conditioning and twin loft);
  • 2 bathrooms (1 queen en-suite with bath and shower over bath and second bathroom with walk-in shower);
  • Sleep max 8 people (2 on sofa beds in lounge, recommended for children under 12years);
  • and
  • Lounge, terrace and braai (barbeque) area.

Lokuthula Lodges are serviced daily, and all linen is provided.  There is a residents’ lounge with satellite TV situated above The Boma Bar.   Same day laundry service is available (for guest’s account), or there is a coin laundromat with washing machine and tumble dryer if guests prefer to do their own laundry.  Check-in time is 14:00 with check-out time being the standard 10:00.

Lokuthula means “place of peace”, which is a perfect description of this lodge with the added benefit of being great value for money too!
